DO THIS!
Thursday, August 2, 2007
Arlington, VA

Hi hi hi.  GO HERE:

http://acl.mp3.com/feature/soundandjury/?band=THE-FRIENDLY-FRIENDS

Vote for these boys.  They are a young band in NW Arkansas, not far from where I grew up.  If they get enough votes, they'll be playing at the Austin City Limits music festival!  "The Friendly Friends" is the band name...original eh!?  You can hear one of their songs on that link too.

Bottomline, help out some young guys who are trying to make a go of it in the music world...and help change the sound of your radio...so that every...single....song that comes on doesn't sound like Nickelback!  You can vote once a day, so vote early and often...and tell your friends!

TRANSFORMERS!
Saturday, June 30, 2007
Arlington, VA

So I was a kid when Transformers were a big deal.  I had a nice collection.  Now, guess who's doing the theme song for the Transformers movie?  MUTE MATH, my boys who are partially from Springfield, MO, the beloved hometown.  Check out the Transformers website to hear their very cool sounding version.

And while you're at it, check out their music video for Typical on YouTube.  Nice.

Oh, Paris.  You've stolen my heart.

Lynwood, CA

OH BOYOBOYOBOY!  If you know me, you know how big of a Paris Hilton fan I am.  (Do I have to tell you that was a joke?)  So here we are in 2007, covering the release of Paris from jail as news.  I decided to get into the mob that was the press outside of this jail.  I was crunched, smahsed, smushed and bashed...all just to get these pathetic little photos.  People say this story doesn't affect people's lives.  Well it affected mine.  I easily could have suffered broken limbs and bruises, just to get these valuable, historic artifacts!  What a big day for my blog.

Just like the old days...
When ma and pop would wait in the family Escalade for Paris to come back from Millionaire Kid Camp!  So precious!

Seeing Double
With this picture, I intended an artistic touch, meant to replicate Paris' vision the night she was first pulled over for DUI.

Goldilocks!
I ain't gonna lie.  It's pretty hair.

The best I could do
Folks, if you want to see high quality photos of this historic event, you're at the wrong website!  Darkness + getting knocked around = blurry photos!

Where's Paris?
Is that her in the poster?  Is that her with the mic?  Does everyone in LA look like Paris?

3-2-1...
Sunday, June 10, 2007

Summer is flying by and there's a lot to catch up on, but I had to post my pix from the shuttle launch on Friday.  It was one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed in person.  When you watch it on TV, there's a sense that it "just happens."  But seeing it in person gave me some perspective...thousands of tons of metal and fuel and people are being lifted into the sky...right in front of my eyes...by sheer human invention.  It really is one of those times when you feel the human accomplishment in your spirit.  We actually throw something into the air like that...and it's not just a rocket being launched up...there's people in there...able to survive the thrust necessary to get into space and enter the earth's orbit...all like it was just meant to happen that way.  I still can't get my feelings into words on this.  But it's remarkable.  The shuttle program ends in 2010...I'd recommend trying to see a launch before then!

Liftoff.

We were about 4 miles from the launch pad.

Doesn't take long for that thing to get up there!

Our photographer Phil Lecroy shooting video of it.  I'm guessing here, but this picture was taken probably 20 seconds after launch.  That thing moves...FAST!

Zoomed in as much as I could.

There it goes.

Several minutes after the launch, the "cloud" created by the shuttle left a cool formation in the sky.
